Aeromechanical inks another deal
AIRLINES • Aeromechanical continues to add to its customer base, inking a deal with a Canadian charter airline.
The Calgary-based company, whose technology, under the Flyht brand, allows data to be transmitted mid-flight from plane to base, will install units on two of the carrier’s Boeing 737-700s.
Aeromechanical didn’t name the company, but said its ninth Canadian client operates domestic and international flights for various groups.
Its blue boxes, which it calls Onstar for planes, allows for the transmission of data mid-flight, including fuel, mechanical, location and altitude information, and can send an immediate emergency message should certain programmed parameters be exceeded.
The new model adds the ability for more information to be sent, including aircraft communications addressing and reporting system data.
Aeromechanical said the deal is a three-year contract worth about $136,000.
