Northstar Ford raises $50k for charity

Northstar Ford Group in Fort Mcmurray recently raised $50,000 for Alberta Children’s Hospital and Edge School Foundation during the first NorthStar Ford Group charity poker tournament.

The winner of the poker tournament was Fort Mcmurray’s own Dan Fouts of Stony Valley Contractin­g. In addition to the poker tournament, Martin Janzen was the successful bidder on the special trip to Fort Mcmurray, including a helicopter trip to the oilsands, three rounds of golf, dinner and a photo with Wayne Gretzky.

Marty Giles, owner of Northstar Ford Group, said: “It was very exciting to be able to host the first Northstar Ford Group charity poker tournament. The entire night was entertaini­ng, and we were able to raise money for great causes. We are already anticipati­ng next year’s tournament. Thank you to everyone who supported the event.”

The event provided funds to Alberta Children’s Hospital and Edge School Foundation. Alberta Children’s Hospital provides care for kids from birth to age 18 from southern Alberta, southeaste­rn B.C. and southweste­rn Saskatchew­an as multidisci­plinary teams work together to promote healing through family-centred care.

Edge School Foundation secures friends and funds through building relationsh­ips to support the Edge School in areas such as programs, scholarshi­ps, financial aid, endowment and capital campaigns.

Northstar Ford Group has locations in Fort Mcmurray, Calgary, Cochrane and Fort Mckay.
