GAME STORY AT CALGARY

- JOHN DOWN, CALGARY HERALD

THREE STARS

1. Shawn Evans, Calgary: It was a special night for the shifty forward as he played against his former team for the first time. Made every minute count in nine-point outing. 2. F Dane Dobbie, Calgary: Seems to have his legs and his offensive game back after missing three games with a chest injury. Scores four times. 3. F Stephen Keogh, Rochester: One of the biggest thorns to the Calgary defence all night. Played a hard-hitting physical game and scored three times.

WHY THE RIGGERS WON

Because they cranked up the offence when they really needed to make key responses to snuff Rochester rallies and then locked down the defence to thwart final push by visitors;

Because they received several timely saves by G Mike Poulin.

BIG HIT

Stephen Keogh surely must have been licking his lips when he saw Calgary defender Jon Harnett with his head turned, looking back for a pass, as he sprinted out of his own zone. Keogh absolutely drilled Harnett with a shoulder and left the Roughneck needing a few seconds to regain his feet and collect his senses.

BIG SAVE

Late in the first quarter, Stephen Keogh threw a wicked shot off a spin move from the low slot. Calgary’s Mike Poulin got a pad on it and kept the score at 3-1.

SCRATCHES

Calgary: T Geoff Snider, D Greg Harnett, F Cory Conway. Rochester: T Joel White, F Alex Hill, F Tim O’brien.

UP NEXT

The Roughnecks will complete this inaugural homeand-home with the Knighthawks in Rochester (5:30 p.m.) next Saturday.
