Bieber imposter charged with online child luring
Toronto • An Ontario man posing as Justin Bieber on Facebook, who police believe has had contact with numerous children online, has been arrested in a child luring investigation in Canada and the U.S.
The man is alleged to have “extorted a 12-year-old girl through Facebook while pretending to be Justin Bieber,” according to the Toronto Police Service Sex Crimes Unit.
A police statement alleges the man “threatened the victim repeatedly to entice her to perform sexual acts on her webcam.”
“The girl complied and when she eventually ceased communica- tion, the man told her he posted the videos to a pornographic website,” it alleged.
The statement alleged the man used fake Facebook profiles under the names Lee O’neel, Justy.beber1, and Yodayoda001.
The incidents were investigated by U.S. law enforcement officials.
Police arrested Lee Moir, 34, of Toronto, on Wednesday. He is charged with three counts of luring a child under 16, the making and possession of child pornography, extortion and invitation to sexual touching. The allegations have not yet been proven in court.
