Olds College honours supporters

-

Olds College Gala 2012 recognized J.C. (Jack) Anderson as Partner-ofthe-year, awarded an honorary degree to Bow Valley College president Sharon Carry and entertained a record crowd nearing 500 guests at the recent glam event held on campus.

Keynote speaker W. Brett Wilson attracted extended attention from the audience of college friends and supporters, including a number of elected officials from all levels of government, plus industry leaders from several sectors. Wilson advocates that Canadian grade school and post-secondary education curricula feature marketing, entrepreneurship and philanthropy.

Student involvement was prominent through the event, featuring co-emcees, second-year students Cougen Pegg and Brett Steadman, plus an aerial acrobatic performance by the college’s arborist program majors, working 10 metres above floor level.

Anderson is a prominent college supporter who this year confirmed a multimillion dollar gift of 100 vintage cars and trucks from his personal collection to be auctioned.

Carry’s honorary degree credentials include a long record of partnership support with Olds College. Carry’s assistance includes an agreement to provide a Calgary campus facility for Olds College on the site of the new downtown Bow Valley College presently under construction.
