Hawks agree with Emery

-

There will be no mystery about who the Blackhawks’ goaltenders will be next season.

The Hawks agreed to terms with veteran Ray Emery on a one-year contract extension Saturday, reportedly worth $1.15 million. The 29-year-old primarily has served as the backup to Corey Crawford this season and compiled a 159-4 record, 2.81 goals-against average and .900 save percentage in 34 appearances.

“I’ve been on a few different teams in the last couple of years so coming here on a tryout and not knowing what to expect and getting a chance to stay here for another year is exciting,” said Emery, who won a job in training camp after playing for the Ducks last season. “Especially with the type of team they have here, a team that’s going to have a chance to win in the next couple of years.”

With Crawford signed through the 2013-2014 season, the Hawks have stability in goal heading into next season.
