Protect yourself from secret debt
Author David Lester offers the following tips on identifying if your partner is hiding debt.
They hide banking statements.
You never see any credit card bills, but you know they use their credit card.
They buy expensive items, such as clothing or electronics, or eat out or travel frequently, but you don’t see these items on any statements.
They get defensive when asked to share their statements, or make excuses for not requesting or sharing credit reports.
Credit card companies call asking for a specific person.
You find financial statements in an unusual place, such as a sock drawer or in the garage or children’s room.
You find financial statements addressed to your partner’s work address, not your home.
