Share the blame

-

Re: “Silver lining for Sutter,” Letter, April 14.

If assigning blame is your mindset, each member of the Flames hockey operation staff should share the blame. Singling out Ken King for lack of on-ice performance is like blaming Druh Farrell, alone, for the Peace Bridge.

The reason the Flames flopped again is the core players (Kipper excluded) did not lift the team to the level required. Poor team dynamics? Injuries? Players not listening to the coach?

On paper, we have a competitive team. We had a chance — if each player played their best. Rebuilding is a long road with no guarantees.

King is an astute businessman and works tirelessly, passionately, for the organization. His decisions have been sound and had to have backing from the owners and the other managers. I believe the team needs a culture shift at the player level. Time to clean house. Renovate or rebuild?
