Resale activity in the single-family home market increased 10 per cent from January to March compared to the same span last year, says the Calgary Real Estate Board.

There were 3,641 sales, up from 3,308 during the same period last year.

Like last year, Zone A — which roughly consists of northwest Calgary — led all quadrants in single-family sales during the first three months of 2012.

There were 1,327 deals made in Zone A, up from 1,198 sales last year.

Tuscany in Zone A topped all communitie­s in the city with 109 sales during the first quarter at an average price of $498,395.

But Zone A’s overall average resale price of $463,671 was second highest in the city.

Zone C, which roughly consists of southwest Calgary, led the city with an average prize of $574,463.

The zone was also second in the city in sales at 1,069.

With 71 sales, Evergreen outpaced all communitie­s in the zone.

Zone D, which roughly covers southeast Calgary, was third in single-family resale activity with 760 deals.

With 88 transactio­ns, Mckenzie Towne led sales in the zone at an average price of $379,463.

As a whole, Zone D’s average resale price was $421,274 — the third highest in the city.

Meanwhile, sales totals in Zone B, which roughly consists of northeast Calgary, finished fourth in the city with 485 transactio­ns.

Martindale led all communitie­s in the zone with 46 sales at an average price of $280,140. At $291,115, Zone B’s average resale price was the least expensive in the city.
