This French country-style home is designed to fit a family as it grows — from its spacious three bedrooms on the upper floor to the openconcept kitchen at the heart of the house.
The Hawthorn is the new Homes By Us show home launching today in Aspen Woods Estates’ Phase 4A.
The 2,974-squarefoot, three-car garage home offers a relaxed contemporary interior with thoughtful built-in extras.
The chimney feature on the outside of the house, for instance, provides a clever opportunity to place a built-in deacon’s bench in the front foyer.
Upstairs in the bonus room, this same space can be turned into a built-in bookshelf or desk.
At the centre of the home, the open-concept kitchen is beautifully appointed — from the wide, hand-scraped oak floor to the hand-glazed cabinets.
The granite-topped island, which holds a sink and Kitchen-aid dishwasher, is designed to resemble a table more than a central storage and work space.
A dual, full-size Frigidaire refrigerator and freezer flank the Viking four-burner gas range and green enamel oven.

Off the dining room is a study and a deck, which offers cool-weather warmth with a built-in gas fireplace and beautiful copper hood vent.
Upstairs, a series of hallways and vestibules give the bedrooms an extra layer of privacy.
The master bedroom is entered through a vestibule, which gives extra privacy for moving between the generous bedroom with coffered ceiling, the walk-in closet with window for natural light, and the spa ensuite, which has two doors.
Also off the vestibule is a short hallway housing the laundry, and giving access to the two other bedrooms.
The second and third bedrooms are spacious, with plenty of room to see a child grow up right through the teenage years.
These two rooms and the four-piece washroom are on their own hallway, accessed through the bonus room or the laundry hall.
The bonus room is comfortable, with plenty of natural light from the large windows to the front of the house, as well as light from the stairs and the space open to the great room on the main floor.
The show home reflects a relaxed contemporary feel. Medium grey walls and insides of cabinets are softened by warm cream trim and accents, such as the outsides of the glass cabinets.
This softening is found throughout in the house — for example, the two-tone rails on the stairs to the second floor.
While the colours are darker, the feel is softened by curves and the accent of a warm cream.
The show home is the last walkout lot available from Homes By Us in this phase of Aspen Woods. It has a finished basement with a workout room, four-piece washroom, games area with wet bar, and lounge area with fireplace.
Movie lovers will enjoy the theatre, which includes details such as insets in the hallway for movie posters.
