Amid the stress and busyness of today’s work world, local company Get It Together Inc. has seized the opportunity to help Calgarians and become a successful venture at the same time.

People from all walks of life are outsourcing their lives and utilizing services. Many don’t realize that personal concierge services are available outside of the hotel industry, says Sheri Bruneau, president of the company.

“Many busy families and working professionals call upon my services to help them out,” she says.

Get It Together offers assistance to residential homes and businesses and looks after diverse jobs such as organizing an office and home; evaluating a client’s current situation and moving forward with an action plan; moving in and out of homes and offices to ensure the setup is done efficiently and effectively the first time and looking after time-consuming daily tasks such as errands.

“When our company has performed a task to help an individual, family, or business, the look of relief that we have given them speaks volumes,” says Bruneau, who was an elementary school teacher for 17 years.

The business began in 2008 and at first Bruneau juggled her teaching job with her new commercial venture in professional organizing. But two years ago she decided to quit teaching and pursue her new career on a full-time basis.

“Teaching has been a huge benefit,” she says. “Not everyone learns the same way.”

She hires people on a contract basis depending on the specific project.

Bruneau says she is “extremely surprised” at how busy she has become since the company was first started. A natural offshoot of the organizing aspect of the business was to offer concierge services, which began in January 2011. And that part of the business has taken off.

“Part of it is time. Business hours have changed for a lot of people. (Concierge service) is just a convenience for them,” she says. Both aspects of the business have a wide range of clients including seniors, stayat-home moms and working professionals.

“If something is not working in your life, there are ways to figure it out and make it work for you,” Bruneau adds.
