IT’S A COMPLETE MYSTERY BECAUSE DAD WAS SO METICULOUS ABOUT LETTING SEVERAL PEOPLE KNOW WHAT WAS UP WITH HIM

ANGIE MOSCO, DAUGHTER OF MISSING MAN RALPH SIMINGTON

Angie Mosco is desperate to find her 67-year-old father, who disappeared more than a week ago.

Ralph Simington, a retired gas-plant operator and grandfather of four, was last seen in the Bowness area on the evening of June 15.

Mosco spent Saturday afternoon placing missing-person posters along river pathways. Volunteers have distributed hundreds of posters throughout Calgary and central Alberta over the past week.

Mosco said it’s unusual for her father to not be in touch with family or friends, noting he updates his answering machine daily with details of his whereabouts.

“It’s a complete mystery because Dad was so meticulous about letting several people know what was up with him and putting it on the outgoing message. this is completely out of character for him,” Mosco said.

Mosco celebrated her birthday on Friday and for the first time did not receive birthday wishes from her father.

“It didn’t feel like my birthday. It just felt like a super stressful day of trying to find Dad. Occasions were very important to Dad. For him to miss it, he would have called me if he could have called me,” Mosco said.

Simington is described as a well-loved and active member of the community. More than 1,000 people have joined a “Please Find Ralph "Facebook group.

“He’s very helpful. If somebody is down on their luck, he’ll buy them a meal or help them find a place to stay,” Mosco said.

Calgary police duty inspector Paul Stacey said there is “no indication whatsoever” of foul play in connection with the case.

Police have interviewed family, friends and acquaintances and notified hospitals in Calgary and surrounding areas. Calgary Transit, RCMP and Canada Border Services have also been told to watch for the missing man.

“As time goes on, we’re ex- hausting all of our efforts. We’re hoping that it will be somebody from the public that can create a lead for us,” Stacey said.

Police are concerned about Simington’s welfare, said Stacey. He is extremely hard of hearing and had a stroke a few years ago. “Until Ralph is found, we’re not satisfied and neither is this family.”

Simington is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-7 tall and 180 lbs. with grey hair and blue eyes. He walks with a limp, wears glasses and has hearing aids.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
