A woman seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash that killed her husband near the town of Three Hills on Tuesday died in hospital later that night.

Lucille Milan, 86, died at around 8 p.m. after being airlifted to Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Her husband, 88-year-old Stan Milan, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

RCMP said the couple from Three Hills was heading west on Township Road 314 in their 2005 brown Buick Allure when the car failed to yield to a 2001 white GMC pickup truck heading south on Range Road 245.

The vehicles collided in the uncontrolled intersection at about noon and ended up in a field.

The 45-year-old female passenger of the pickup was transported to Three Hills Hospital and has since been released.

The 34-year-old male driver had minor injuries but did not need to be taken to hospital.

Both are also from Three Hills.

RCMP said weather, road conditions, speed or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, and charges are not expected to be laid, said Cst. Rob Harms.
