Swedish ABBA museum to open
MUSIC • A museum showcasing the music and stage costumes of Swedish pop group ABBA will open in April in Stockholm.
The museum will be housed at the Swedish Music Hall of Fame, which will display temporary and permanent music exhibitions from the 1920s until today, according to band member Bjorn Ulvaeus.
“Swedish pop music is an important part of our cultural heritage,” said Mattias Hansson, managing director at ABBA The Museum, in a statement. “ABBA is one of our most well-known international brands.”
ABBA has sold 378 million albums, and this week its greatest hits compilation, ABBA Gold, was named the bestselling album ever in England.
The band, which also included Benny Andersson, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, now Princess Anni-Frid Synni Reuss, split up in 1983 after a career that spanned 13 years.
