Re: “Lottery winner,” Letter, Dec. 6.
I am not a royal watcher, but I disagree with Len Dafoe. He says: “Yes, William and Kate, the world rejoices at your good fortune,” but it sounds more like Dafoe has a case of “the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.”
Whereas the first-born royal will certainly be financially sound and get lots of attention, there are also so many downsides of a gilded cage for protection against kidnapping, monumental expectations on his/her shoulders, media hounding and envious commoners. Maybe look for some good in the young royal family, Len.
