Kitchen heats up zest for living

Montrose II by Excel Homes in Kincora

- JOSH SKAPIN

The person who designed the Montrose II must enjoy cooking — or at least spending time with others while they cook.

The 2,022-square-foot, two-storey home by Excel Homes in Kincora offers kitchen space that is a dream come true for any domestic chef. The V-shaped kitchen boasts no shortage of places to prepare a meal, including expansive counters and an oversized central island.

For a casual place to snack, the island includes room for three people to sit. The opposite side of the island faces a corner pantry.

Other kitchen storage options include cabinets that in the show home are upgraded to a 42-inch height. Its appliances include a dishwasher, refrigerator and over-the-range microwave. The location of the show home.

The kitchen faces a great room and nook, which both feature tall, rearfacing windows that feature a low E design. E stands for emissivity, a measure of heat loss.
