SHOW HOME OF THE WEEK
Carrara by Albi Homes in Heritage Pointe
Abungalow in Artesia at Heritage Pointe is one reason its builder is up for one of the industry’s highest honours. Albi Homes’ Carrara model is one of three submissions by the builder to be named as a finalist for a National SAM (Sales and Marketing) Award. Its strong rating also helped fuel Albi Homes’ place as a contender for the Grand SAM, which goes to Canada’s top builder in 2012. Carrara is one of the show homes in Artesia, the final neighbourhood in Heritage Pointe, a luxury development next to a 27-hole golf course in De Winton, south of Calgary.
This 2,432-square-foot homes features a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired prairie elevation with a front-attached garage.
The location of the show home.
It has three bedrooms, including a master bedroom on the main floor and two secondary bedrooms in its developed basement.
The master bedroom has two towering rows of rear facing windows and a tray ceiling.
It connects to a spacious ensuite reminiscent of a luxury hotel spa with a stylish freestanding tub under a modern four-piece light fixture. The ensuite also features dual sinks and a shower encased in stone and tile.
On the other side of the ensuite is a rectangle-shaped walk-in closet large enough to double as a dressing room.
The main floor revolves around a centrally located great room that makes an impression with its soaring ceiling, brick gas fireplace and a stunning wall of windows.
The great room connects to a powder room, home office, laundry room, back deck, mud room and kitchen, which is separated by pillars.
There’s no shortage of space in this V-shaped kitchen fit for a domestic chef. It has large, warm-toned cabinets that match a set of integrated appliances.
It also includes a rectangle island half-wrapped with a lower-set granite eating bar. The kitchen connects to a formal dining area with enough room for a table that can seat eight people.
The dining room connects through sliding glass doors to a back deck.
On the other side of the kitchen is a corner walkthrough pantry that connects to a mud room with access to the garage, creating an easy path to the kitchen after a trip to the grocery store.
The mud room also connects to a laundry room.
A staircase in the great room connects to the rec room in the developed basement.
Like the main floor great room, the basement centres around the rec room, which connects to the two bedrooms, an exercise room, storage room, mechanical room and games area suited for a foosball or pool table.
The exercise room has a hardwood floor, a tray ceiling, is encased in glass, has a mirror wall and includes two large rear-facing windows.
It has space for an exercise bike, weights, and a yoga mat and yoga ball. The rectangleshaped storage space is ideal for tucking away skis, a Christmas tree and decorations, and any other off-season items to avoid clutter elsewhere in the home.
