Move-up style at first-time price

Townhome offers three bedrooms on second floor

- JOSH SKAPIN

Homeowners never want to feel like they’ve had to compromise. But sometimes, first-time purchasers and downsizers get that sense when tucked into a smaller square footage than they wish they could afford, or are used to living in.

That’s not the case for a townhome model by Brookfield Homes, where its features are reminiscent of a move-up house.

The Indigo is a 1,203-square-foot model with three bedrooms on its second floor.

The layout works for both young families and retired couples, with space for a home office and a guest bedroom.

It even comes with an attached double-car garage. Its main floor is accessed from a small upward staircase and is an open-concept design.

The floor plan connects the great room, dining room and L-shaped kitchen. The plan is crafted to offer a natural flow between the rooms, making it easy for guests to move from sharing a meal to having a place to unwind and visit with a cup of coffee or glass of wine.

The great room is squareshaped and includes tall, frontfacing windows. It’s only a few steps from a dining area with room for a table of four.

Adjacent to the dining room is a large storage space. A stub wall creates some separation between the dining room and appliances and cabinets in the kitchen.

For a more casual place to sit and eat, the kitchen includes an island with seating for two people.

The kitchen features stainless steel appliances, along with a countertop with a ceramic tile backsplash to the underside of the cabinets.

Off the kitchen is an optional balcony, where people can step out for a fresh air or to fire up a barbecue.

Partway up the staircase to the second floor is a half bathroom. A full bathroom is located at the top of the stairs on the second floor.

This bathroom is flanked by a linen closet and the master bedroom. The master bedroom is bright with rearfacing windows and connects to a V-shaped walk-in closet.

The two secondary bedrooms have front-facing windows. One of the two bedrooms has a walk-in closet.

There is an option to change the plan so instead of three bedrooms, it will have a double-master bedroom. The unit comes with an unfinished basement, with potential to tack on a fourth bedroom.
