Re: “Bettman can’t take away Canada’s game,” Jack Todd, Opinion, Dec. 17.

What a brilliant column and how true when we look at the events of the past week. A hockey fan since birth, my father played with legends like John Bucyk and Norm Ullman. Saturday nights were hockey nights throughout my youth, and to this day.

There’s probably no more dedicated fan than myself and my family, complete with a sports garage pad that was on Hockey Day in Canada — and yet, the reflection of last week’s tragedy truly makes one reflect on our children, family and friends. Thank you, Jack, for giving all the hockey fans across our great country a little shake to remind us what is really the most important part of our lives.
