Executive stays with Glencore
Glencore International, which completed its $6.1-billion acquisition of Viterra Inc. this week, has appointed Fran Malecha, former chief operating officer of Viterra, as director of agricultural products for North America, with responsibility for all North American operations.
He will be based in Regina, which becomes headquarters for Glencore’s North American agricultural products business.
A company spokesman also confirmed the company would continue to operate under the Viterra name.
Malecha has been with Viterra for 12 years Viterra was formed in 2007 following the takeover of Agricore United by the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool for $1.8 billion.
In March, Switzerlandbased Glencore offered $16.25 a share for Viterra. The deal was finally approved on Dec. 7.
