Airdrie teacher faces new sex charges
Only two months after being charged for allegedly having sex with a student, an Airdrie teacher now faces additional charges for continuing the illegal relationship with a 17-yearold student.
The new allegations came to light after an RCMP School Resource Officer noticed John Christopher Miller’s vehicle leaving George MacDougall High School, where he is suspended from his duties as a science teacher.
He now faces 12 counts of breach of recognizance and one additional count of sexual interference.
“In order for him to be charged with sexual interference, the contact between the two of them would have to be sexual in nature,” said Cpl. Darrin Turnbull of the RCMP.
The other 12 counts come from continued contact with the 17-year-old victim, illegal under the terms of his bail conditions.
RCMP located Miller at his house and arrested him without incident.
On Oct. 17, Miller, 35, was charged with sexual interference and sexual assault. He was later released from custody and banned from contact with the victim.
Miller was suspended by the principal of George McDougall High School.
Miller is in Airdrie RCMP custody and is awaiting a hearing before a justice of the peace. Turnbull said it is possible Miller will have his bail revoked.
