While thoughts of ski slopes are forefront in snowy January, a set of townhomes in Copperfield offers the perfect year-round chalet retreat, whether for apres-ski or apres-school.

Sabal Homes recently opened two new show homes from the seven floor plans available in the townhouse development Chalet No. 4 in the southeast community of Copperfield.

The townhomes have a European style to them with clean lines, wood and glass details and built-in niches in convenient corners.

Chalet No. 4 floor plan M offers a total of 1,464 square feet of finished area, with 154 square feet finished on the lower level.

The home comes with a finished entrance on the ground level with access to the single attached garage. There is also a full-length driveway for parking a second vehicle.

From the ground level, stairs lead to the front entrance with coat closet. The ceiling is open to the second floor, giving a great feeling of vertical space.

Up a few steps from the coat closet, the home opens up on the main floor. To the front of the house is the great room. It’s a spacious room with large front windows to maximize natural light. A stub wall opens over the front entrance, giving a sense of connection to the whole home and allowing for more indirect sunlight to fill the room.

Centred on the main floor is a stylish kitchen with a long island providing excellent work space on its quartz counter top. Rather than an extended eating bar with seating on one side, its extension is to one end, to provide seating for two facing one another.

The island also houses storage, the dishwasher and an undermount stainless steel dual sink.

The dark ceramic tile backsplash is set on a vertical pattern. The OTR microwave and side-by-side fridge are set to the wall, with pot drawers and storage flanking the smooth-top range.

Flat panel maple cabinets in a dark stain balance the lighter countertops and island.

Facing the island on the far side of the kitchen are a tall pantry and a broom closet with generous storage.

Open to the kitchen at the back of the home is the dining nook, with large windows facing out the back.

Tucked into the back corner is a tech niche with built-in desk and a window for light. It features a rich wallpaper feature with a vertical pattern.

Up two steps from the kitchen is a powder room, then the stairs turn and continue to the top level.

On the upper level, this show home displays the two bedroom plus study layout option. Other configurations offer two bedrooms plus walk-in closets, and the opportunity to upgrade to a three-piece ensuite with a threepiece second bath.

To the right is the master bedroom, a calm room with a large front window. To the right is a walk-in closet with a small window to provide some natural light. A separate door to the left opens into the master ensuite, a three-piece bathroom with a shower.

Continuing along the hallway, a bench fills a niche in the stub wall at the top of the stairs to the left. The main three-piece bathroom is to the right, with a bathtub. The linen closet and laundry closet with stacking washer-dryer are to the left. At the end of the hall is the study to the left, which offers a spacious room with a window. It could be used as a third bedroom in a pinch, but it lacks closet space.

To the right is the second bedroom. It’s a light-filled room with a little niche at the back of the room.
