At cross-purposes

-

I would like to know who decided that street cleaning in Braeside should take place on the same day as garbage and recycling pickup.

For those without an alley, the street is the only place to put the garbage and recycling bins. The street cleaning signs instruct homeowners to remove the bins from the street. This puts the homeowner in a quandary as to whether or not to put out the garbage. If the neighbour puts out the garbage and you don’t, your frontage doesn’t get cleaned, anyway.

Cars left parked on the street are bad enough, but it has to be frustrating for the cleaners when they can’t get down the street because of the bins.

Street cleaning when you can’t get close to the curb where all the debris collects is pointless and a waste of money.

Surely, the city can co-ordinate street cleaning with garbage collection.
