Scarlet letter

- Clinton Hallahan, Calgary

The map of properties in floodplains or flood fringes continues the Tory war on information and nuance.

Albertans are lucky. Now, instead of being informed of the damage and renovations a property received postflood, no matter how severe, they’ll just have to note the government-approved scarlet letter on the title.

It is encouraging to see that this government has moved on from passively destroying property values by gutting infrastructure, schools and hospitals, and is now actively demoting homes to junk status.

Nothing says flood recovery like removing millions of dollars of home with the stroke of a pen. The Redford Tories are more effective than raging rivers in that regard.
