Flames sign defenceman Chris Breen to two-way contract
The Calgary Flames signed defenceman Chris Breen to a one-year two-way contract on Wednesday.
Terms of the deal have the 6-foot-7 blueliner earning $577,500 US if he plays with the big club, $80,000 if he stays in the American Hockey League (AHL).
The Uxbridge, Ont., native played in 60 games for the team’s AHL franchise, the Abbotsford Heat, in 2012-13. He scored three goals and added four assists while collecting 55 minutes in penalties.
Breen, 24, has played in 204 career games with the Heat since 2009, recording eight goals, 18 assists and 143 penalty minutes.
