Custom tailors cast suits to suit every taste

-

People are unique — their tastes, styles and bodies are often so intensely varied that one type of clothing is rarely enough for every occasion.

That’s why bespoke suiting is designed not just to be practical, but also elegant for both work or special occasion wear.

BMV Bespoke has created a business out of its mission to provide quality made-tomeasure garments for all for at a reasonable price.

Staff members travel the world making appointments with customers to create elegant suiting, shirts and accessories. Staff members train for years as master cutters and tailors before they work hands-on with clients to create garments of an exceptional quality.

“Unless you understand body shapes and how to cut a suit, you cannot measure or fit people in a suit,” says BMW Bespoke director William Bal, a third-generation tailor.

“Everyone’s body shape is different, whether their one shoulder is lower than the other, their arms are longer or they have a long torso. They can’t possibly look good in a suit that is cut for a body unlike their own.”

With BMV, customers book an appointment thorough BMVBespoke.com or when the tailors are in town.

At the appointment, in a local hotel, customers are measured. They then choose fabrics, cuts, styles and all the other little details.

Six to eight weeks after the fitting, customers are sent their new garments via courier. The fit of each suit is guaranteed.

If there are any minor adjustments needed, a second fitting is offered at no charge the next time the company is in the city (which is every few weeks).

Made by hand, the suits will not only fit perfectly, but will last between five and seven years for normal fabrics — longer for high-end textiles.

“In certain cases, I have had clients say to me, ‘this jacket was passed on to me by my father or my grandfather,’” says Bal. “They want another one just like it.”

For customers unsure of what they want in a suit, whether the colour or cut, Bespoke’s team of professionals is able to educate on colours that work well with certain skin tones, trends and what would be appropriate within your trade. For the fashion-forward types that know what they like down to the button, that’s fine, too, says Bal.

For anyone who has worked with a tailor in Calgary, they’ll know it doesn’t come cheap. Custom, made-to-measure suits in most places will cost upward of $1,500. With prices more than half that, BMV Bespoke has created somewhat of a cult following in the city with business executives, bankers, lawyers and even groomsmen. Just read the online reviews, says Bal.

“A smart and elegant bespoke suit takes time, but it will be much more beautiful and classy than anything you would ever buy off the rack,” he adds.

“We also pride ourselves on exceptional customer service. If you buy the suit and later it needs to be altered, we do it at no charge because we value our customers.”

BMV Bespoke will be at the Hyatt Regency Calgary from July 25 to 29. To book an appointment or for more information, go to BMVBespoke.com.
