House offers presidential style

The Kennedy provides luxury within Cranston

- BARB LIVINGSTONE

Sophistication, thy name is Kennedy.

From the moment you step into Trico Homes’ The Kennedy show home in Cranston, it’s clear this is no boy-next-door model.

From the entranceway, with stairs to the upper level to the left, your eyes immediately jump ahead. In front of you is a dining room which contains a pillar that outlines the room dimensions.

But what really grabs your attention is the beautiful, pale, stone-faced fireplace that has a two-sided glass enclosure that faces the great room on the other side.

It is a striking, contemporary first impression for the two-storey, 2,434-square-foot house.

Beautiful wide-planked floors flow through the rooms.

An open nook area next to the fireplace in the dining room allows a look into the great room and is used as a wine bar, with individual cubbies for wine glasses.

A half bathroom is down a short hall off the dining room, which then leads into a mud room and then into the garage. This hallway also takes you to the stairs into the basement area.

The kitchen carries the stone theme with another half-moon stone enclosure around the stove. There is incredible space here on the speckled quartz countertop, topped by attractive tile backsplashes and prolific brown maple cabinets.

Storage includes floor-to-ceiling cabinets around the stainless-steel fridge.

There is a large island, also topped by the beige speckled quartz, with a double sink and seating for three.

There is a second good-sized dining area with french doors to the deck and backyard. A long, rectangular bank of privacy windows offers plenty of light, without you looking into the home next door.

The great room, of course, has the other side of the fireplace that faces the windows out to the backyard.

At the top of the stairs up the maple banister, the bonus room is to the immediate right. Instead of a regular door, french doors reinforce the feeling of sophistication as you walk into the master suite.

The bedroom area has another gas fireplace for those cold Calgary nights — and, again, it is doublesided, so it also sits in front of the bathtub in the ensuite.

Large windows above the tub ensure a room that is both bright and relaxing. The shower is tiled on two sides, with a glass enclosure on the other two sides.

There are striking his-and-hers glass bowl sinks sitting atop a quartz countertop. The toilet is in a separate enclosed area. A full walkin closet is attached to the ensuite.

To the left of the stairs is a seating area, topped by a window and with room for a desk. It could be a small office, or a computer work station for the students in the family.

There is an extralarge double closet for storage that leads down the hall to a laundry room with washer and dryer.

There are two bedrooms and a large main bathroom at the front of the house, with large windows and one sink.

The Kennedy provides great moveup space for a growing family, with unique touches that make it memorable.
