Little Miss Outriders take to the field

-

The Calgary Stampeder Outriders are a talented group of 21 dancers who cheer on the Calgary Stampeders at every home game. In addition to cheering, the Outriders play an integral role in the community volunteering their time at schools, hospitals and charitable events throughout Calgary and Southern Alberta. Today at halftime you will have the opportunity to see some of their hard work in action through one of their most popular programs – Little Miss Outrider, presented by Jayman. The Outrider dance team has spent the last two weeks teaching girls ages 5-15 a cheer and dance routine to perform together on the field at McMahon Stadium and are excited to show off their dance moves. “Little Miss Outrider is all about having fun and enjoying yourself. It’s a great opportunity to learn, make new friends and try something new,” said fourth year Outrider, Bailee. Further to learning new dance skills and performing in front of thousands of supportive fans, the Outriders believe participants are also taking away valuable life skills. “Little Miss Outrider gives girls a chance to feel important, cared about, and most importantly confident in themselves,” said rookie Outrider Laura. With a variety of music selections and dance styles, the Outriders appeal to Stampeder fans of all ages. For girls ages 16-18, the brand new Junior Outrider program is an excellent first step to becoming an Outrider. “Working with and role modeling for teens is my favourite thing about being on the team,” said Laura. Keep an eye out for the Junior Outriders today as they participate in the first quarter of the game alongside the Stampeder Outriders dance team. As you can see, the Outriders bring enthusiasm and pride to everything they do and this attitude has carried on to the production of this season’s calendar. “The Outriders, along with our photographers and graphic design staff have all worked hard to ensure that our fans will get the best, hottest calendar in the CFL and I promise it will not disappoint,” said Bailee Calendars are on sale for $20. You can purchase your copy at the game today with all proceeds going directly to the Outriders’ appearance at the 101st Grey Cup in Regina. “This calendar gives fans a great chance to see each of the Outriders at our best. Plus, the western theme is very appropriate and heartwarming for all Calgarians. We worked hard to make this year’s calendar the best yet, and I am confident in saying that we were successful,” said Laura. The official Outriders 2014 Calendar Release Party is set to take place next month where you can pick up a calendar, meet the entire team and watch them perform.
