‘There’s only one brand now, and that’s family’
Meet North West, the secondmost-talked-about baby in the world.
The world finally got a peek at the baby daughter of rapper Kanye West and ubiquitous reality TV queen Kim Kardashian. The photo was unveiled Friday morning during a visit from West to the set of the Kris Jenner Show — Kardashian’s mother.
Jenner gushed of her granddaughter: “She’s beautiful. She has Kim’s eyes. ... It’s so cute the way you’re so obsessed with this baby.”
Earlier, during the syrupy-sweet chat, West poured out his love for Kardashian — the socialite turned TV phenomenom thanks to a lurid sex tape.
“It’s hard for anyone to find love, especially ... if you’re famous — or, as they call me, polarizing,” West said. “There’s times when I wasn’t with her, I wanted to be with her so bad I thought about taking up sports.”
West was giving a nod to his partner’s previous penchant for playing with sports stars.
Now, the twosome are focused on the baby.
“It takes time to understand,” West said. “You met a brand-new person. The thing I think about as a dad is just protection. My only goal is to protect my daughter. That’s my instinct.”
West said he’s sees the baby’s birth as a big change in his life — and the creation of a new brand.
“Me and my girlfriend’s mother are of different brands, in a way,” he said of Jenner. “It’s not about anybody being at odds. It’s about us all helping each other and improving each other. ... The way I talk to people (is) too sharp, sometimes it’s hard for me to make small talk ... That’s what your family and Kim is teaching me, being a better person.
“There’s only one brand now, and that’s family,” he said.
The loss of his mother, Donda in 2008, following a liposuction operation, has made West more committed than ever to family.
“After I lost my mother, there was times I felt like I, you know, I would put my life at risk,” West said. “I felt like sometimes I didn’t have something to live for. Now I have two really special people to live for.”
