Spa gives back, encourages local support
For more than 25 years, Swizzle-Sticks SalonSpa has been proudly Calgary-owned and operated, and an innovator in providing superior day-spa services.
“We opened our Day Spa in 1994 and we were the first in Calgary,” says CE2 and Salon Team Leader Ross Hahn. “We’re very much promoters of the Be Local movement. We’re not in a mall — we’re in a single, community based location for a reason. Malls are generally occupied by conglomerates and global chain stores who are exporting the wealth of our local economy. We clearly mean to be a local business helping to hold local wealth right here at home.
SwizzleSticks’ 7,000-square-foot location is a landmark in fashionable Kensington, offering salon services for men and women including cuts and colouring, and spa services such as Aroma Wellness Chakra, Pregnancy and Thai Ritual massage, plus facials, body treatments, waxing and a range of spa packages and experiences.
“We’re 100 per cent naturally powered, with our electricity and natural gas provided through Bullfrog Power, and we’re the only Canadian salon ever to receive the Aveda Environmental Stewardship Award, as well as we’re a founding member of REAP,” says Hahn.
SwizzleSticks also donates $100,000 annually in cash and services to local and provincial arts organizations such as Alberta Ballet, 2ne Yellow Rabbit (as “style sponsor”), Calgary Folk Music Festival, Sled Island, Alberta Theatre Projects and more, as well as dozens of local grassroots charitable organizations. SwizzleSticks is located at 1221 Kensington Rd. N.W. Call 403-270-7333 or visit swizzlesticks.com.
