Flood victims beware

Re: “High-end homes targeted in break-and-enters in Elbow Park area, police say,” Herald Online, Jan. 22.

Why is it necessary to write that these are “high-end” homes? What about writing that these homes were all hit by the devastating effects of the June flood? These homes are probably not as secure as they normally are due to damage or construction that is ongoing in our neighbourhood.

Some people aren’t away on trips; they aren’t home because their homes still can’t be lived in. We just moved back last weekend after seven months of reconstruction. The worry of a break-in was always on our minds due to this circumstances. So, to read your article that didn’t point out this very important part is upsetting. It’s really quite sad this is happening to a community that has already had so much upsetting loss.
