RCMP hunts suspect in sexual touching
Man approached 12-year-old in Red Deer
Red Deer RCMP are investigating after a man asked a 12-year-old boy to touch him inappropriately.
The incident took place Saturday about 5 p.m. while the boy was in his yard at 48th Avenue and 46th Street.
The boy noticed the man hanging around the area and walked past the yard once before approaching with an invitation to sexual touching.
The man fled when the boy’s parent approached, and was last spotted heading south toward Rotary Park. Officers who responded to the complaint were unable to find the man.
He is described as a Caucasian, about 25 years old, five foot eight, approximately 75 kilograms with a thin build, short blond hair, little to no facial hair, and a tanned complexion.
He was wearing a black muscle shirt and beige shorts at the time.
RCMP say a similar incident took place June 27 farther north in the Pines neighbourhood, in which a man between 20 and 30 years old approached a 14-year-old boy on the street after school.
The teen was unable to provide a physical description of the man, and RCMP are unsure if the two cases are linked. Neither boy was harmed. Anyone with information on the cases is asked to call Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575 or Crime Stoppers.
