Pozzobon targets championship

-

Ty Pozzobon is being a good boy. Thursday, he made his relatives’ travel plans easier.

By virtue of another go-round win, the Merritt, B.C., bull-rider is assured of a spot in Sunday’s championship.

“My family will be making their way out,” said Pozzobon. “I guess they can plan their trip now.”

His trip aboard Gold Spring earned him 87.0 points, vaulting him ahead of L.J. Jenkins, of Porum, Okla., who picked up 82.0, and Zane Lambert, of Ponoka, who settled for 80.0.

“I was thinking it must look pretty cool because I could sure feel him rockin’ and rollin’ out there, but I kept my hand closed,” said Pozzobon. “He left out of (the chute) really hard and was one of them bulls trying whatever he can to get you off his back. It was awesome. It was a battle from start to finish.”

Which buys him a shot at $100,000.

“It’s nice,” said Pozzobon, “but I’m not going to be thinking of that. I’m going to be going at the one (Friday) just like the last couple.”
