Quarry Park feels like home

Bristol Townhomes development a welcome addition to innovative community

- JOSH SKAPIN

Andrea Davis-Yue has fond childhood memories of the area in southeast Calgary now known as Quarry Park.

And this November, she and her husband, Reno, will look to build more memories when they take possession of their new home at a development dubbed Bristol Townhomes. This is the third multi-family project by Birchwood Properties in Quarry Park.

“There is a little bit of history there for me,” says Davis-Yue of the community. She grew up in the nearby neighbourhood of Riverbend and would spend days with friends exploring the area.

“My girlfriend and I would ride our bikes and come up from Carburn Park and have a little fort area there,” says Andrea. “We were quite young and we’d pretend we lived there. So to actually move in and live there, it’s just sort of a really cool experience.”

In her adult years, Davis-Yue kept tabs on the area and liked what she heard.

“Plans for a multi-use area with residential, a recreation centre, it sounded like a great place to be,” she adds.

Quarry Park is master-planned by Remington Development Corp.

It’s noted for its appealing blend of residential, office space and a commercial hub called The Market at Quarry Park.

“Quarry Park is a unique and thoughtfully designed community set along prime riverfront real estate,” says Donna McQueen, area sales manager. “Our market place, also known as the heart of the community, is only just steps away providing all amenities that are both enjoyable and convenient.”

The Davis-Yues met in China and lived there for a number of years.

They’re now transitioning for a move to Calgary.

“We came (to Calgary) on a trip just visiting friends and family over the holidays,” Andrea says. “We were just looking at properties in the area and immediately got excited about Quarry Park. It escalated from there.”

The couple liked what they saw in Bristol, which is now selling in its final phase. This project has 35 units, currently selling from the $434,900s, before tax. A presentation unit for Bristol is at 324 Quarry Park Blvd. S.E.

These townhomes have an, “air of modern sophistication,” says McQueen. “They have exceptional layouts with optimal design and provide a superior level of interior finishings with upscale flare.”

These finishings include airy nine-foot ceilings on the main level, 45-ounce hardwood floors, carpet with a six-pound underlay and a high-efficiency furnace.

The bathrooms have ceramic tile, vessel sinks, single-lever chrome faucets and tubs with tile walls.

Kitchens boast high-gloss acrylic cabinets, an Energy Star stainless steel appliance package and quartz on the counters and island.

The Davis-Yues picked the Ashford model. This is a 1,590-square-foot plan with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms. “We took a leap of faith on this one,” says Andrea, adding they bought their new place before Bristol had a show home but saw a similar model at Birchwood’s Boulevard Townes complex.

The development’s other floor plans include the 1,590-squarefoot Alston and the 1,313-squarefoot Banbury.

There are also two versions of the Berkley that come in 1,313 and 1,337-square-foot options.

Going with the Ashford, Andrea and Reno get a three-bedroom orientation, master ensuite, full bathroom and laundry room on the top level of the plan. A two-car garage and flex space are on the first level and the second level has the great room, dining area and kitchen.

“The open space is what we were looking for,” says Andrea. “We didn’t want to have a closedoff kitchen.

“The fact the main living space has literally no walls is awesome.”
