Situated on the rolling hills and wooded slopes overlooking the quaint town of Cochrane, The Ravines of Sunset Ridge is a hidden gem. Designed by Calbridge Homes, this collection of townhomes nestles next to pine forests filled with deer, owls and myriad unspoiled flora and fauna.

The project’s show home, The Pinnacle, a 1,408-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-and-ahalf bathroom, Craftsman design with front-attached garage defines excellent use of space. What makes its layout interesting is the splitlevel design. It’s a concept that is attracting attention from a variety of demographics.

Upon entering the home, a clean and crisp tile-clad foyer beckons. A large window frames views of the vistas beyond. A sprinkling of stairs upwards leads to the main level open-concept living space, while another staircase leads to the developed lower level.

On the main level, banks of glazing allow light to stream from end to end making the space lively and welcoming. Wide planked engineered hardwood creates a relaxed backdrop for the mountaininspired spaces.

The kitchen incorporates all of the design goodies from a sparkling glass mosaic tile backsplash to a handsome island swathed in white stone. The island features an eating bar and farmhouse sink, a great place for the resident chef to whip up a selection of decadent appetizers while friends sit at the bar and chat and nibble on the delicacies, a glass of chilled Viognier in hand. The dark espresso cabinetry grounds the space and sets off the chrome pendant lighting accessories.

The kitchen spills into the great room and dining room. Each space is defined by a design or architectural detail — the dining room features a cut-out wall niche in the backdrop and at the other end of the open-concept space, the living room feature wall is swathed in a textured grey wallpaper creating a strong focal point.

From the dining room, french doors lead to a 100-square-foot deck with views of wide open spaces, mountain ridges and pine tree laced forests. One can imagine kicking back on a chaise after a long day at the office and feeling completely relaxed, the hustle and bustle of the city a distant memory. This location is simply stunning and soul-soothing.

Adding to the sense of retreat, the bedroom configuration allows the adults some privacy from the kids. Up a flight of stairs from the main level, the owners’ retreat features the master bedroom, ensuite and large walk-in closet. The two secondary bedrooms a four-piece bathroom and the laundry are a quick jaunt up another flight of stairs on the third level.

The Pinnacle plan offers optional lower level development for even greater living space. There is plenty of room for a fourth bedroom, another bathroom, and a large media room.

Buyers can choose from four colour palettes, all themed around nature — River, Canyon, Valley and Quarry. Homes start in the mid-$300,000s.
