THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CALGARY COMIC AND ENTERTAINMENT EXPO

-

1. No tickets available at the door As of press time, Thursday, Friday and Sunday were not sold out, although that can change quickly. There are no tickets left for Saturday and four- day passes have sold out. All ticket holders are guaranteed entry into the event. Visit calgaryexpo.com for more information. 2. Heavy hitters at the Corral Throughout the weekend, some of the bigger stars will be featured at the Stampede Corral. This year that includes Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D’s Ming- Na Wen and Brett Dalton. Agent Carter herself, Hayley Atwell, will be there. Once Upon a Time’s Lana Parrilla will be joined by fellow “Queens of Darkness” Kristin Bauer Van Straten, Merrin Dungey, and Victoria Smurfit. Comic book guru Stan Lee, The Arrow’s Stephen Amell, and both Game of Thrones stars Jason Momoa and Gwendolyn Christie will have events. 3. Only the dead will speak The Corral will also be the site for a Walking Dead panel featuring Scott Wilson ( Herschel), Lew Temple ( Axel) and David Morrissey ( The Governor). What do they have in common? Spoiler Alert — their characters are all dead. Living Dead alumni who are attending — namely Danai Gurira ( Michonne) and Ross Marquand ( Aaron) — are not scheduled to participate in the panel. 4. POW! Parade of Wonders Naheed Nenshi, crowned the world’s best mayor in 2014, will lead this year’s Parade of Wonders through downtown Calgary on Friday morning. The Hobbit’s Graham McTavish, original Buffy the Vampire Slayer Kristy Swanson, Beverly Hills 90210’ s Ian Ziering and wrestlers Amy Dumas, Trish Stratus and Mick Foley will be among those parading along behind him, as will an estimated 750 “cosplayers.” The parade will travel from Festival Market in Eau Claire to Olympic Plaza, starting at 10: 45 a. m. 5. Expo etiquette It’s not rocket science. Fans meeting actors and artists at Calgary Expo for autographs should “always be respectful,” says Emily Expo. Most stars will have an agent or some sort of representative with them, who should be consulted before a photo is taken. “Some will say yes, some will say no,” says Emily. “Do the right thing and ask for that. I’ve actually seen people run into a photo op and try to jump into someone’s arms.” Don’t do that. Shake their hand. Be polite.
