A HOME WITH HIGH STANDARDS

Bella Vista in Airdrie’s Pier II Bayside community sparkles without upgrades

- JOSH SKAPIN

“Does this come standard?”

Every time a show home-goer asks that question in the Bella Vista, the answer is yes.

Genesis Builders Group shows how impressive its basics can be with a new, move-up model decked out entirely with standard specifications, other than the wallpaper.

Bella Vista is a 1,963-squarefoot home with a two-car front-attached garage in Pier 11 Bayside. It’s found in a master-planned community on Airdrie’s west side developed by Genesis’ land division. The Bella Vista is presented in three-bedroom with two-and-ahalf bathroom orientations.

One of a the best examples of an area that excels without upgrades is its gourmet kitchen. The functional L-shaped cooking space features granite counters and a central island with a quartz edge profile. This island has a stainless steel undermount sink and an extended eating bar with enough room to seat three people.

Also in the kitchen are 42-inch upper cabinets, a spacious pantry with mesh wire shelves and four stainless steel appliances, including a handy over-the-range microwave.

The kitchen faces a nook where tall energy-efficient and argon gas-filled windows make the space feel like it extends to the backyard. Sitting next to the nook is a great room, which also makes good use of natural light with large windows along the back wall and two more flanking the fireplace and mantle.

This floor plan is mindful of the need many people have to work from home. Whether it’s a peaceful area to study for an exam or a place to polish off a project after work hours, the den in the Bella Vista delivers that private escape. Rather than joining an open concept in the busiest area of the house, it’s tucked behind the kitchen and accessed down the hall from the front foyer. In a space that’s 11 foot two by 10 foot six, you can move in a large desk and shelves without feeling cramped.

Stairs from the main to the second level are found near to the great room. They meet up with a hallway that stretches from the front-facing bonus room to the master bedroom along the back wall, which sits side-by-side with one of the secondary bedrooms.

The master bedroom has an ensuite that links to a walk-in closet. This feature is convenient with couples where one partner has to wake up before the other.

The ensuite has a full-width mirror over dual vanities with Delta chrome faucets and a curated tile backsplash. There’s also a shower with an acrylic base and it’s bordered by five millimetre glass doors.

The two secondary bedrooms are placed along the same wall and are separated by a full bathroom. Across the hall, there’s a large laundry room with a window, wire shelving and a washer and dryer.
