At least 3 dead in U. S. movie theatre shooting

A gunman opened fire at the Grand Theatre in Lafayette, La., on Thursday night, killing at least two people and injuring at least seven others before shooting himself, officials said.

Lafayette police say they know the identity of the gunman but are not releasing it yet. Police say the 58- year- old white man died of a self- inflicted gunshot.

Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craftsaid seven are injured, with injuries ranging from critical to nonlife threatening. None of the names of the victims have been released.

“We don’t know if this was just a random act … whether it was a domestic situation … not far enough along to be able to determine that,” Craft said.
