Stop speeding — and save a life

-

Re: “Paternalistic police,” Letter, July 30.

Dave Small was speeding and breaking the law. I assume he was in the 100 km/ h zone, so he was going 15 and 21 km/ h over the speed limit.

The police are not trying to save Small from himself; they are enforcing the law which protects us from people who speed. Speed kills — driving over the speed limit increases your chance of being in an accident, decreases the time you have to react and increases the severity of injury in an accident. I’m glad Small has avoided being in an accident; however, sadly, that’s not the case for everyone. Please slow down, Mr. Small — you could be saving another person’s life.
