Albi joins Symons Gate group with six new models

- JOSH SKAPIN

There’s a new face in Symons Gate.

Award-winning Albi Homes is now part of the builder group in Brookfield Residential’s new northwest Calgary community, stepping in with prices from the mid-$500,000s.

This is the builder’s most attainable price tag since it built in Copperfield in 2007.

Since then, most of its work has been in the high $600,000s to $2 million range.

“We haven’t been in the market on the 34- and 36-foot lots for quite a few years,” says director of business development Jason Mauro. “It’s going to be the same quality, same service, just a little bit smaller product than what we’ve got to do in a while.”

The sales launch in Symons Gate is Albi’s first in a Brookfield community since being purchased by the company late last year. Albi joins an existing building group comprised of Morrison Homes, Jayman Built and Brookfield.

The community is up in two categories at this year’s Canadian Home Builders’ Association-Urban Development Institute Calgary Region Association SAM (Sales and Marketing) Awards, which will be announced during a gala event at the Telus Convention Centre on April 16. Symons Gate is a finalist for New Community of the Year and Show Home Parade of the Year.

Albi comes to Symons Gate with six new models.

“It gave us a chance to be innovative and so we did get to design new plans,” Mauro says.

“We tried to make them a little bit more cost-effective than our estate (product). They’re going to be jewel boxes but it’s still going to be Albi quality.”

Mauro says these homes will range from about 2,000 to 2,650 square feet.

“We went into it thinking, how do we do what we do and just do it on a little lower price point. Time will tell if we hit the market right, but I feel like we really have done that,” Mauro says. “It was just a really good opportunity for us to be in the northwest and bring on some new product, which was exciting for our team.”

Floor plans for two of the models can now be seen on company website albihomes.com. They’re the 2,294-square-foot Corsano and the 2,439-square-foot Verona. Both have three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

Albi has two show homes under construction in Symons Gate, which are expected to open in June.

A sales centre should be open in the community this May. In the meantime, Albi is answering questions from potential homebuyers about its opportunities at Symons Gate with a kiosk at the Symons Valley Ranch Farmers Market, which is walking distance from the community.

On Calgary’s northwest end, Albi also has estate lots in Valley Pointe Estates and is expected to open sales with Homes by Avi in Tuscany in the coming months.
