Man hurt in home invasion by trio with baseball bats

-

Police are investigating a southeast Calgary home invasion in which a man was attacked by three people armed with baseball bats and paintball guns early Thursday.

Det. Andy Nguyen said shortly after 4 a.m., three male suspects entered a residence in the 1400 block of Lake Michigan Drive S.E. in the community of Bonavista Downs.

Three occupants were home at the time.

One of the residents — a man in his 30s — was assaulted and received a cut to his forehead. He was taken to Rockyview General Hospital in stable, non-life threatening condition, said EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux.

Nguyen said the victim’s roommate had to go to a neighbour’s house to call 911 because the culprits had allegedly made off with their cellphones.

Police are trying to determine if the home invasion was targeted and are still waiting to interview the victims.
