Man linked to deadly fight charged with manslaughter
A man is now facing a manslaughter charge in connection with a deadly altercation outside a southeast liquor store.
Just before 11 p.m. on March 24, three men were embroiled in a dispute while leaving the Star Liquor store in the 15500 block of McIvor Boulevard S.E. in the community of Copperfield.
“The conflict inside the liquor store was strictly verbal. Then it continued outside and escalated into a physical confrontation,” said Insp. Don Coleman with the Calgary Police Service’s major crimes section.
During the brawl, Peter William Nassichuk, 37, lost consciousness and struck his head against the pavement.
Nassichuk was taken to hospital and died of his injuries on April 11.
Rico Alan Properzi, 31, of Calgary, surrendered to police without incident Thursday and was charged with one count of manslaughter. He is expected to appear in court on April 29.
