‘It’s a draw,’ says multi-family class winner Jayman Modus

Openness, green spaces, attractive architecture and the appeal of living in Mahogany.

These features helped elevate Ebony in Mahogany to MultiFamily Community of the Year at the Canadian Home Builders’ Association-Urban Development Institute Calgary Region Association SAM (Sales and Marketing) Awards, says builder Jayman Modus. A gala event celebrating winners from the 2015 competition was held at the Telus Convention Centre on April 16.

The previous winner was The Villas at Watermark by Macdonald Development Corp. in Watermark at Bearspaw.

Ebony is a condo and townhouse development in the masterplanned southeast Mahogany community, which features a lake.

“It’s a draw,” says Jayman Modus vice-president Larry Noer of Mahogany, adding Ebony’s site itself is in a desirable location.

“There really are no other large projects built around it. It’s not a townhouse project in the middle of a bunch of townhouse projects. It stands on its own.”

Green spaces surround the Ebony site and there are three courtyards within it.

“Lots of space for families to relax and enjoy condo living,” says Noer.

“It just has a really good feeling of openness when you walk through. Some (other) condo sites don’t have that but ours certainly does.”

A sales centre for Ebony is at 291 Mahogany Way. It’s open 2 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Following Ebony in the best multi-family community class was condo tower The Park by Lake Placid Developments in Victoria Park, two submissions by Avi Urban and La Vita Land’s the Trading Post development in the Cochrane community of Sunset Ridge.

Avi Urban, which was named Multi-Family Builder of the Year at the event, was a finalist in the multi-family community category with Edison at Walden and The Post at Nolan Hill.

Ebony’s win was one of three multi-family housing for Jayman Modus at the SAMs. The builder also earned two trophies for Overture in Currie, including Best Apartment- Style Condo — One Bedroom plus Den and Best Apartment Style Condo Two Bedrooms and Up.
