Build a fence, not a crosswalk

Re: “Jaywalking spurs new crosswalk,” Aug. 23.

The best and fiscally responsible solution to this poorly positioned bridge is to put up a six-foot red fence on the river side to force people toward the established walk over and crosswalk.

This would be less than the $400,000 that’s being spent and leave Memorial Drive open without another light. Few people would jaywalk to climb the fence. Nancy Bird, Calgary
