Once Upon a Time
Storybrooke gets plenty of new residents, some of them not necessarily welcome, as the fantasydrama’s sixth season opens with The Savior. Escapees from the Land of Untold Stories arrive in sizable numbers as Emma (Jennifer Morrison) displays an unexpected result of giving the town’s populace their memories back. Regina and Zelena (Lana Parrilla, Rebecca Mader) decide to share quarters. (ABC, CTV)
POLDARK ON MASTERPIECE
The reboot of one of the anthology series’ classic dramas begins its second season with Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) shouldering the blame for a fatal shipwreck. To that end, he’s accused of having caused the tragedy on purpose — and deemed a murderer by some — prompting a trial that doesn’t look good for him, given the hostile stance of both the witnesses and the judge. (PBS, WTVS)
SECRETS AND LIES
Juliette Lewis is back as Det. Andrea Cornell as Season 2 of the drama begins with The Fall, which gives her a fresh case. A newlywed (Michael Ealy), who’s in line to inherit his family’s private-equity firm, becomes a murder suspect when his wife (Jordana Brewster, who’s also on Lethal Weapon this season) is killed, giving him a vested interest in Cornell’s probe of the crime. Terry O’Quinn (Lost), Charlie Barnett and Kenny Johnson are new cast members this season. (ABC, CTV)
MOVING THE MCGILLIVRAYS
Scott McGillivray has established a significant fan base, through his imposing skill set and easygoing personality, on such shows as Income Property and Canada’s Handyman Challenge, but he opens up his private side in this delightful new 10-part unscripted series. It follows the contractor, his wife Sabrina and daughters Myah and Layla as they undertake building the house of their dreams so they can move out of their cramped home in the Toronto suburbs. (HGTV)
