At the end of a busy work day, nothing beats having an escape.
This mindset is part of both a new master-planned community just north of Airdrie and the model ReidBuilt Homes is showcasing within it.
The veteran builder is part of the move-up segment in Vista Crossing by Dream Development. Part of the community’s appeal is that it’s in Crossfield and offers the chance to leave the density and bustle of big city life.
Vista Crossing is set for two hectares of protected wetland, eight hectares of green space and more than four kilometres of walking trails. The primary green space in its opening phase will boast a community garden, soccer field, ice rink and barbecue pits. McKee Homes and Homes by Dream are building in the community, as well.
ReidBuilt’s one show home in the community is the 2,073-squarefoot Aydon 2. Meeting the needs of larger families, the floor plan has four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a two-car, front-attached garage.
The aforementioned escape links to the master bedroom. A spacious and soothing ensuite is finished with materials that are welcoming, fresh and bright.
It’s easy to imagine spending a Friday night in the corner deep soaker tub that sits under one of the ensuite’s two large windows. Next to the tub is a generously sized glass encased shower.
There are his and her vanities with a lowered counter between them and a handy shelving unit beneath that.
Complementing the vanities is a blue subway tile backsplash.
The ensuite connects to a Ushaped walk-in closet.
The master bedroom is 12 feet seven inches by 15 feet five inches and along with its accessory spaces, reaches the entire width of the rear-facing wall on the second floor.
Two of the secondary bedrooms are central and sit side by side along the same wall. They’re similar in size and each have a wall closet that faces the hallway.
Across from these bedrooms is a full bathroom next to a laundry room, which has a counter with the same tile from the ensuite and a white wire rack above a frontload washer and dryer.
The front portion of the second floor is comprised of a bonus room next to the fourth bedroom.
Open-riser stairs from the second to main floor step out to a hallway that stretches from the foyer to the open-concept kitchen, great room and dining area.
Catering to the head count that may come with a four-bedroom home is a spacious foyer and coat closet. When coming through the garage, there’s a sizable mud room with a bench and coat hooks.
One of the home’s high notes is the kitchen that is both charming in appearance and functional in design.
Its full-height backsplash behind the stove and hood fan is a design reminiscent of something from a country cottage home. The appliances are stainless steel, including a fridge with French doors and there’s an abundance of cabinet space.
A large island provides a generous space for meal preparation and there’s an extended eating bar that seats three people. The dishwasher and microwave are in the body of the island as well.
Both the dining area and great room line up with large windows that look into the backyard.
