Homemade-rug designer lays down food creations

-

Carly Dellger knows that rugs are an easy way to update a home’s interior — and in choosing the right one to match your personality, a rug can make a fairly bold statement.

Dellger goes one step further, however. The Wisconsin-based crocheter, who owns her own Etsy shop called Surfacewerks, specializes in DIY accessories and rugs that resemble such food items as eggs, avocados and bacon.

Dellger’s bacon rug, like many of her creations, is made from upcycled cotton poly fabric strips and, according to Hello Giggles, “tastiness.”

Of course, humour also plays a part in Dellger’s creations. The handmade egg-style rug, which resembles a sunny-side-up fried egg, she happily dubs Egg Rugg.

Her rugs, which also include a triangular set and cactus rug, are priced from $121 to $269.

The egg fascination also shows up in another of her popular wares: coasters, made out of acrylic yarn. The sunny-side-up egg is paired with toast as part of one set, while others designs include a crocheted set of four spilled drinks and a grilled cheese set. These are for sale for about $35.

As for the avocado creations, Dellger mentions on her Etsy site she just made a coaster set and plans to have a new rug design in the future.
