Leost drains aces, donates to charity

- WES GILBERTSON

It was a sweet shot, followed by a classy gesture.

Marc Leost scored an ace during the Calgary Flames Celebrity Charity Golf Classic, making short work of the sixth hole on the Talons track at Country Hills with a pin-seeking six-iron from 165 yards

Wait, it gets better — Leost, the director of sales and luxury suites for the local hockey heroes, won a diamond pendant for his hole-in-one and promptly donated the shiny prize back to the Calgary Flames Foundation for auction.

It fetched $12,000, helping boost the fundraising total for the 2016 Calgary Flames Celebrity Charity Golf Classic to north of $400,000.

Tanner Forman gave the boys reason to celebrate during the men’s night finale at Highwood in High River.

Forman was the toast of the clubhouse after finding the flag on the 142-yard fifth hole on the Mountainview loop, getting the job done with one crack of a nine-iron.

Nancy Bird, a member at Calgary Elks, made a splash of a different sort on the island green at her home club. Bird launched a seveniron over the water on No. 17 and her aim was outstanding from 112 yards out.
