CFL POWER RANKINGS WEEK 20

- 1. ( 1) CALGARY

They didn't put their best team on the field against the Alouettes, and as a result they ended up falling short of posting the best points percentage in an 18 game season. It's their Grey Cup to lose.

2 . ( 3 ) B. C.

The Lions scored an easy win over the Roughriders to get a little bit of confidence back after their two game letdown against the Bombers. More importantly for them, their triumph got them back into second place in the West. Now all they have to do is beat the Riders in the rematch at BC Place to host next weekend's West semifinal.

3. (4) EDMONTON

Winners of four of their last five, the Green and Gold are going to be that team no one is going to want to face in the playoffs. They are likely headed to the East Division bracket, which will make their road to the Grey Cup even smoother.

4. (2) WINNIPEG

The Blue and Gold managed only one meaningful turnover against the Redblacks while serving up five of their own, and it meant they lost control in the race for second place in the West. No team gives up more yards than the Bombers, and they are woeful in almost every other defensive category.

5. (5) OTTAWA

The Redblacks clinched first place in the East Division for a second straight year with the win over the Bombers, but the bottom line is they're still 8-8-1 and could still finish first with a losing record if they fall on Friday night. That has never happened in CFL history, which would make it a notorious record to own.

6. (6) HAMILTON

The hits keep on coming in the Hammer, where the Tabbies suffered another serious loss in their receiving corps. Canadian slotback Andy Fantuz went down with a reported ACL tear, adding him to an injured list that already includes Luke Tasker and Chad Owens. They're going to be the longest shot in the playoffs even with a post-season game at Tim Hortons Field.

7. (7) MONTREAL

Credit to the Alouettes for showing up and beating a good team in the Stampeders, no matter whom they rested last Sunday. The organization needs to make some serious changes this off-season.

8. (8) SASKATCHEWAN

The Riders bid adieu to Taylor Field on Saturday with an excellent post game ceremony. The game itself wasn't overly memorable, as the Lions had their way with the Green and White, but Saskatchewan is at the stage now where it's all about next year.

9. (9) TORONTO

The Argos this week should fight to not finish in last place, which would give the Bombers the first overall pick in next year's draft. That's about the only motivation they will have after having the bye last week and then needing to play a mostly meaningless tilt in Edmonton on Saturday to end their sorry season. Will it be the final one for GM Jim Barker and head coach Scott Milanovich for the Double Blue?
