Cubs stars up for awards

Slugger Kris Bryant, pitchers Jon Lester and Kyle Hendricks of the World Series champion Chicago Cubs are finalists for baseball’s major post-season awards. Bryant, Daniel Murphy (Washington) and Corey Seager (Dodgers) are up for NL MVP, while Jose Altuve (Houston), Mookie Betts (Boston) and Mike Trout (Angels) are the AL nominees. The AL Cy Young Award is between Corey Kluber (Cleveland), Rick Porcello (Boston) and Justin Verlander (Detroit). In the NL, it’s Lester, Hendricks and Max Scherzer (Washington). Rookie finalists in the AL are Michael Fulmer (Detroit), Gary Sanchez (Yankees) and Tyler Naquin (Cleveland), while Seager, Kenta Maeda (Dodgers) and Trea Turner (Washington) are NL nominees.
